About the Presenters

Jim Anderson, President and CEO, California Society of Association Executives (CalSAE)
Jim Anderson has over 25 years of experience in the non-profit field, including 10 years with CalSAE. He has led the organization by increasing membership for 8 out of 10 years. Member services, professional development events and budgets have expanded by more than 40% over that time as well. CalSAE also has a tremendous volunteer base, with more than 20% of the membership actively volunteering each year. Prior to his tenure with CalSAE, Mr. Anderson served the United Way CA Capital Region for over 16 years and was most recently its Executive Vice President.

Helen Horyza, MS, NCCC, President, Scully Career Associates, Inc. & Elevations for Organizations
Helen Horyza is an expert in the field of employee development, engagement and retention. She is an accomplished trainer, facilitator and executive coach. Helen holds an MS in Career Counseling from California State University, Sacramento, and is a professionally trained coach through Coach Training International. She is a Nationally Certified Career Counselor (NCCC) and has over twenty years of experience uncovering talent and directing it to achieve extraordinary results. Additionally, she is a Vistage speaker, encouraging CEO’s to inspire employees to their greatest potential. Helen is the creator of Elevations, an online assessment used for career development and employee engagement programs within organizations.

Saul Macias, PHR, Senior Consultant, SharedHR

As a full HR Generalist, Saul Macias has managed a variety of projects in the retail, technology, professional services, and non-profit sectors covering the gamut of HR topics. Prior to joining SharedHR, Saul was Director of Human Resources at the Stupski Foundation, one of the country’s most influential foundations in the k-12 education reform space. He holds a BA in Sociology from Pomona College, an MBA with distinction from University of San Francisco, and received his HR Certification in 2002.

Lisa Brown Morton, SPHR, President & CEO, Nonprofit HR
Under Lisa Brown’s direction, Nonprofit HR has served some of the most prominent organizations in the country, including Amnesty International, Independent Sector and NeighborWorks America. With more than two decades of human resource management experience working with nonprofits and for-profit organizations, Lisa and her firm have proven that better HR can play an integral role in nonprofit success. In 2011, she was named a Washington Business Journal’s Minority Business Leader Award honoree and in July of 2012, Washington SmartCEO Magazine recognized Lisa as a 2012 Brava! Award winner.

Desiree Nielson, Director, Talent and Organizational Development, NorthBay Hospital
Desiree Nielson’s diverse career spans management, consulting and coaching roles centered on human capital. Desiree is accustomed to implementing performance technologies for the purposes of talent development, succession planning and change management. She uses her vast experience and natural strength of compassionate inquiry to implement effective organizational strategies. Desiree holds a Masters of Human Resources & Organizational Development from the University of San Francisco. She is certified to train, influence, coach, facilitate, and deliver talent-centered feedback for organizational leaders.

Kat Steinmetz, Head of Human Resources, Burning Man
Kat Steinmetz is the Head of Human Resources for the Burning Man organization and a member of its Executive Committee and Operations Board. Her 15+ years of expertise lies in working with creative and innovative companies, mission-driven organizations, and helping start-ups grow. She is a dynamic, positive, energizer who excels at facilitating collaborative decisions, driving organizational culture programs, and developing leaders to their fullest potential. Kat received her degree in Social Sciences from Washington State University.


 

Cancellations received less than seven calendar days from the program date are not refundable. If cancellation within seven days of the program is unavoidable, a credit for a future event will be granted, minus a $75 administration fee ($15 for regional meetings and Webinars). Credits must be used within one year of issue. A substitute attendee is allowed at the applicable NCHRA member/non-member rate in lieu of credit. Separate cancellation policies apply for the HR West Conference and Certification Preparation Courses.
