NCHRA & PBC GURU ANNOUNCE OUR 2017 NCHRA VIRTUAL BOOK CLUB!

Join our virtual community to earn up to 15 recertification credits per year while connecting with fellow human resources professionals and enjoying interesting books. Participation is free for NCHRA members. Choose from hundreds of professional development books and engage in thoughtful discussions as we progress through the readings. Numbers are limited, so sign up quickly to get started.

How it Works
The book club will be an opportunity for NCHRA members to read interesting books as a group and discuss them online through our new NCHRA online group. Participants will earn 2.5 recertification credits for each book that they read and pass a short quiz online. Participants will have two chances to take each quiz for credit. The group will complete a book every two months (six books per year) allowing participants to earn up to 15 recertification credits per year. Books will be selected based on the interests of the members and a vote between several options each period.

The time commitment for the group will depend on how fast you read and how much you choose to participate. This allows a lot of flexibility which we hope will be appropriate for people's busy lives. The NCHRA Book Club will take place on NCHRA's online community, Social Link. You will receive more direction on navigating this online community once you register.

If you want to read more, earn recertification credits and connect with other human resources professionals, sign up now!

Why Join?

There's three main reasons we hope you'll be excited to participate in the book club:
1. Connect with Human Resources Professionals: Want to connect with intelligent, driven and interesting people in our profession? Joining the book club will introduce you to a lot of great people and help you improve your network.
2. Earn Recertification Credits: Participants will earn 2.5 HRCI recertification credits and 3 SHRM recertification credits for each book they read and pass a short online quiz. Earn up to 15 HRCI and 18 SHRM recertification credits without needing to leave the comfort of your home.
3. Reading is Good for You: Did you know business people who read at least seven business books per year earn over 230% more than people reading just one book per year?1 Or that reading improves your intelligence, reasoning ability and has been linked to reducing the chance of Alzheimer's? Joining our book club will help you read more and enjoy all the benefits that come with it.

The NCHRA Book Club is a virtual book club, hosted entirely online, which means that participants have the freedom to participate at their leisure.

An online book club is a great way to connect and stay connected with other HR professionals over time. Participants are able to discuss the books in the online forum group and connect with individuals outside of the group.

The Book Club decided on the current book Managing the Older Worker: How to Prepare for the New Organizational Order, by Peter Cappelli & Bill Novelli, which will need to be purchased through SHRM to qualify for recert credit.

You can drop into the book club at any time! Here are the dates we focus on a new book:
2/6 - 4/6 Book 1: Multipliers
4/7 - 6/7 Book 2: Emotional Intelligence 2.0
7/3 - 9/7 Book 3: Deep Dive (Proven methods for building strategy, focusing resources, and taking smart action).
9/7 - 11/7 Book 4: Managing the Older Worker: How to Prepare for the New Organizational Order
11/7 - 2/7 Book 5: TBD

***New 2018 Book Club begins 1/29/18!
