A Message from the CEO - My Resignation

Greetings and Happy New Year!
I hope this message finds you anticipating a wonderful year ahead and reflecting on a fabulous year behind. NCHRA enters its 55th year having just finished our best in organizational history: growing our community, adding new offerings and resources, bolstering our financial strength, and becoming an even more widely recognized voice of our incredible profession. Our plans for 2015 build on that growth and remain anchored in our only reason for existing - serving you.
If it were possible, I would share my news with each of you in person. After much thought, I have decided to resign as your CEO, effective February 6. It has been an honor to serve you, the NCHRA staff, our volunteer leaders, and the profession for the past nine years.
I look forward to continuing in service to our profession in a new way. I am leaving to take a position as CEO of an HR staffing and consulting organization. This firm is a long-time supporter of NCHRA and one with which I have personal history; these were strong influences in my decision.
I am certain as I look back on my career, my time at NCHRA will be amongst the most memorable and satisfying. I appreciate the opportunities you have afforded me to grow, to shape and support what is arguably the most successful HR association in the country, and, especially, to build what will be lifelong relationships. We have done good work together.
Your Governing Board is focused on the search for a successor. In the short term, it is business as usual at NCHRA. Because we plan our programming almost a year in advance, my departure will not cause service disruption to the community. We will deliver the best HR West ever on March 2-4, launch the new SHRM certification preparation courses, and continue our nationally ranked programs for HRCI certification in just a few weeks. Additionally, our staff will also continue to deliver the more than 200 quality programs NCHRA has reliably provided year in and year out.
For the immediate future, Lisa Hickey, our Associate Director, will assume operational responsibility for the organization. She has capably led HR West, certification preparation, and NCHRA's conferences and summits for several years. She has been involved extensively in organizational operations and has represented us at both the state and national levels. Her professional background in HR extends to the VP level and both her educational background in organizational psychology and her personal dedication to excellence and service make her the perfect choice to guide NCHRA through the transition.
