Less work. More fulfilling. Peers in the for profit world have a common misconception of our sector. We know the truth: run a business, motivate talent, remain mission-focused, multi-task, subject to higher regulation, answer to more diverse stakeholders. And then there’s the nonprofit paradox: increased demand for services with drastic reductions in budgets and staff. More work. More fulfilling. Our world.

HR’s role is critical in anticipating and responding to shifting organizational realities. Gain insight and immediately useful tools crafted specifically for the unique role of HR in a nonprofit.

Sessions:

9:00 am - 9:15 am
Nonprofit HR Challenges & Opportunities

Kick off the day by identifying and sharing current challenges and opportunities confronting you and your organization.

From the Employee Free Choice Act to wrongful discharge claims, the responsibility falls to HR to keep the organization compliant. Focusing on the latest legal minefields created by new laws, cases, and regulations, you’ll leave this session prepared to: avoid legal problems when implementing workforce reductions, comply with the EEOC's new regulations on religious accommodations, define and address workplace bullying, and minimize the risk of union organizing.

Speaker: Stephen Hirschfeld is a founding partner with the law firm of Curiale Hirschfeld Kraemer LLP, in San Francisco, California. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Employment Law Alliance (ELA), the world’s largest network of labor and employment lawyers.
