Summary
Significant variances in California and federal law present challenges in the areas of daily overtime, on-call pay, meal breaks, deductions, and termination pay for companies with employees in California. Find out more about the specifics and differences between state and federal regulations, as well as about:

  • Exempt and non-exempt employees as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Rules for wage payment, deductions, record keeping and overtime pay
  • Proper procedures for developing and implementing flexible work schedules
  • Wage and hour compliance related to leave laws

Speakers
Holly Sutton is a partner in Farella Braun + Martel’s Litigation Department. She provides ongoing counseling to clients on a wide range of employment matters, including employment contracts, severance packages, employee dismissals, non-competition/trade secret laws, and workplace policies.

Doug Dexter is a partner and chair of the Employment Law Practice at Farella Braun + Martel LLP in San Francisco. He has spent more than 20 years advising employers on implementing sound business policies and reducing the threat of employment litigation.
He is also a frequent lecturer and author on developments in labor and employment law. Doug is a past president of NCHRA.
