In today’s increasingly connected and digitized world, attaining and retaining stakeholders’ trust is more critical than ever before. Customers assume that their business dealings with any given company will be kept secure and confidential. As a company, you trust that your employees, from the director to the contract software developer to the temporary assistant, are well-trained in knowing how to safely manage company data and assets and appropriately respond to ongoing cyber security threats. But phishing attacks are constant and evolving, able to fool those who don’t know how to recognize them. Malware is pervasive and can creep into your networks if your users are not vigilant. You will be able to use the learnings from this webinar to understand your role in working with IT to solve cyber security threat for your organization.

While technology has made workers' lives exponentially easier, it has also opened the door to a number of threats in terms of hacking and data theft. Cyber security breaches are costly and destructive for all organizations, big and small. According to statistics from Heimdal Security, cyber crime costs the global economy a staggering $100 billion every year. Another troubling statistic is the finding that nearly 60% of fired employees steal important corporate data after departing their position.

Furthermore, malicious intent aside, an IBM study found that well over 20% of breaches at work can be attributed to careless employee mistakes. The findings from both studies highlight the fact that organizations need to be vigilant of not only external cyber threats, but also the potential for trouble within their own workforces.

We will discuss several possible solutions, including:
1. Changes in hiring practices

2. Dealing with disgruntled employees

3. Employee security education

4. Regulatory compliance

5. Protecting HR data

6. Hiring cyber security professionals

You will be provided with examples of phishing and social engineering emails and asked to identify the threat. You can then develop three action items for your company in this scenario. You’ll leave with a better understanding of your leadership role of HR in cyber-security threats, how to recognize threats, and how to develop plans to work with IT.
