Susan J.Bethanis, Ed.D., Founder and CEO of Mariposa Leadership Inc., a high-tech executive coaching firm. She designs experiences and services that move people and "raise their game." Sue applies insights from design thinking, linguistics, anthropology, and athletics to her roles as CEO and Executive Leadership Coach. She has delivered Breakthrough! seminars using design thinking for Zynga, LinkedIn, Center for Domestic Peace, HP, and Products Are Hard. She is the author of Leadership Chronicles of a Corporate Sage and Leader as Designer. She received her Ed.D. degree from the University of San Francisco, her M.A. from Stanford, and her B.A. from Occidental College.


Sylwia Gulik, Senior Associate, Human Capital Group, Mercer Seattle
Sylwia Gulik is a Senior Associate with Mercer’s Human Capital group in Seattle. Her work focuses on talent management, career architecture and workforce strategies. She often plays a project management role in large scale projects for Mercer’s largest global clients. She also actively participates in proposal development efforts in the talent management space. Sylwia’s work experiences also include a role of Career Management Manager at Avanade (global IT consulting company) – where she was responsible for development, improvement and maintenance of a comprehensive career model for over 5,000 employees, including leaders.

Greg Ketchum, PhD, Principal, TalentPlanet®

Before founding TalentPlanet in 1999, Greg Ketchum built and ran his own management consulting practice and has over 20 years of experience working with business organizations. He is a leading expert in the areas of leadership development, high performance teams and strategy development. His specialty practice areas include planning & facilitating corporate and board retreats, executive coaching, and team development. He was the “CBS5 (San Francisco) Workplace and Career Expert” for KPIX TV Eyewitness News and formerly hosted a weekly 2-hour call-in talk show focused on careers and the challenges of the 21st Century workplace.


Alex Klein, Associate, Talent Business, Mercer San Francisco
Alex Klein is an Associate in the Talent business of Mercer’s San Francisco office. Alex’s experience includes career architecture design, sales effectiveness assessment and compensation design, competency development, executive and broad-based competitive market pricing. Alex has worked across a variety of industries including technology, food, healthcare, banking, not-for-profit and pharmaceuticals. Alex’s recent projects include: CEO Succession Planning, Future Organization Design, and Talent Development. Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Stanford University.

Tim Leberecht, Chief Marketing Officer, NBBJ

Tim Leberecht is the chief marketing officer of NBBJ, a global design and architecture firm that helps organizations like Amazon, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Boeing, Google, and Starbucks create meaningful experiences. He was previously the chief marketing officer of Frog Design, acclaimed for its work with Apple and other Fortune 500 brands. His writing has appeared in publications such as Forbes, Fortune, and Wired. He has spoken at such events as the Silicon Valley CEO Summit and the World Economic Forum. His TED Talk, 3 Ways to (Usefully) Lose Control of Your Brand, has been viewed by nearly a million people.


Patrick Shannon, Partner, Talent Business, Mercer San Francisco
Patrick Shannon is a Partner with Mercer’s Talent business in San Francisco. He works with business and HR leaders in a variety of organizations to optimize talent strategies, assess and develop leaders, improve organization effectiveness, and develop job/career architecture, performance management, compensation and reward systems and job leveling programs. Patrick has presented at numerous conferences including WorldatWork and the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology. His articles include topics such as talent development (“Building the Talent Pipeline at Microsoft,” Workspan), CEO performance evaluation (Director’s Monthly) and career pathing (Talent Management). He co-facilitated a WorldatWork sponsored webinar on talent management, and has been certified as a faculty member by WorldatWork.

David Swanson, SPHR, Executive VP of Human Resources, SAP
David Swanson has more than 25 years of human resources management experience with a number of technology leaders including SAP, where he is currently the Executive Vice President of Human Resources. He also has held executive HR roles at a number of technology companies supporting global development, marketing, sales, and service organizations. David is actively involved in the HR community as an adjunct lecturer with the University of California Santa Cruz Extension and as both a presenter and facilitator with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA).

Cancellations received less than seven calendar days from the program date are not refundable. If cancellation within seven days of the program is unavoidable, a credit for a future event will be granted, minus a $75 administration fee ($15 for regional meetings and Webinars). Credits must be used within one year of issue. A substitute attendee is allowed at the applicable NCHRA member/non-member rate in lieu of credit.
