This year has been especially noteworthy due to the number of employment law developments that have already taken place. You’re invited to a webinar during which attorneys from Hixson Nagatani LLP will discuss hot new employment law developments including:

New Wave of Local Sick Leave Laws: San Francisco voters approved amendments to the City’s sick leave law, while San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Monica recently enacted sick leave laws in their respective cities.  We’ll review how these local sick leave laws (and local sick leave laws in Emeryville and Oakland) differ from California’s state sick leave law.  Sick leave policies must meet both state law requirements and the more generous local law requirements in locations where employees perform work.

State and Local Minimum Wage Hikes:  We’ll review the schedule of increases to California’s state minimum wage enacted by Senate Bill 3, and recent/future increases in minimum wage requirements in 17 California cities and/or counties (including new minimum wage laws enacted in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Monica).

New San Francisco Paid Parental Leave Ordinance: Requirement that employees in San Francisco receive supplemental compensation when receiving Paid Family Leave benefits to bond with a child.

Federal Law Increase to Minimum Exempt Pay: The federal minimum exempt pay requirement will increase to $47,476, higher than California’s minimum pay requirement.

Required Updates to Confidentiality Agreements: The Defend Trade Secrets Act bars employers from recovering exemplary damages or attorneys’ fees without appropriate disclosure to employees in confidentiality agreements.

All attendees will receive detailed PowerPoint slides concerning the subjects addressed.
